Here's some pictures to celebrate. First, my two hatchbacks face to face:
And now on to the CRX
The interior is in pretty damned good shape for a 25 year old car. I need to get or rent a steam cleaner and really clean it, but that's about all it needs. I have a stock head unit on the way to replace the aftermarket thing. The seats are okay. There's some seat missing on the bottom of the passenger seat and the bolster is falling apart on the drivers seat, but that's about the only real problems.
The CRX on the door panel is a really nice touch
And the interior space is comically gargantuan
It's actually quite a lovely thing, especially when you remember that 1990 was 25 years ago
I'm really looking forward to getting it in even better shape
Bonus terrible HDR shot

Awesome car. May I ask what you paid for it? Curious what these are going for these days.

Nice car!
What a beautiful, unmolested treasure. Nice too see one that hasn't been fooled around with.

Any thoughts about installing the original amber turn signals instead of the aftermarket clear units? If you're re-installing the factory stereo on what looks like a 98% stock car, then you might as well go all the way!

I love it! That's the cleanest CRX I've seen in a long time. I'd love one for a cheap daily driver, but they're all riced or rusted out around here at this point.

Sanic, no brainer. It's better in every measurable way.

Oh the memories, the black one is exactly like my old one. I purchased mine in '96.

They are in a box on their way to me as we speak.
I'm taking it back to stock as much as possible. I'm even planning on replacing the oversized front tires with stock ones like the rear

Better in every measurable way does not necessarily equate to better. The immeasurable is what plays with out emotions and creates an emotional bond with a car. A new 328i is better in every measurable way than my 2002, but I like my 2002 significantly more. Nostalgia, maybe. Or maybe its just because its mine.

Hell yes, you're saving a lucky CRX from the horrible FnF crowd.

Great purchase - it looks well taken care of and unmolested. Getting those final few things cleaned and fixed up would make for a great little classic car soon.

Yes. The thin line on each number should be black and there should be a moulding on the sides between them
I'm hoping to find the moulding and plastidip or paint the number lines. The car was painted at one point, apparently they didn't replace it. It's also missing the window moulding on the rear quarter windows.
All of that will be fixed hopefully. The only door mouldings I've found have been expensive, so I'm really hoping to find one in a scrap yard

It's better in the immeasurable ways too. My Sonic is ridiculous, it makes a crazy noise and is an absolute hoot.
I like the CRX, but the Sonic is definitely better

Then I'll fall in love with it and upgrade the suspension for autox...

damn shame, interior looks clean except for the wear on the seat bolsters, and those CRX seats are getting harder to obtain.
great looking car!!! congrats!

From what I've read it's not that difficult to swap cushions and covers, so someday I'll do that from passenger to driver side and have one really solid seat.

just pulled apart some DC2 integra seats, apparently a similar design. My only advice would be to invest in a cheap (helloooo harbor freight tools) hog pliers, and a packet of new hog rings. Attempting without resulted in blood and swearing.

I'm MAJORLY jealous. And it isn't for the Sonic. In fact I hate the damn Sonic. I really wanted to like the Sonic until I tried to test one out. They're just too damn small inside.
An unmolested CRX is on my short list of dream cars. I still regret getting rid of my '85 19 years ago.

The Sonic is plenty of roomy to me. What did you expect? It's a compact car (subcompact even)
Stapleface-Now Hyphenated!

02/03/2015 at 14:48 | 0 |
I expect it to have the same amount of room as a CRX. I don't think that's too unreasonable.
Then again, this is slightly unfair. Honda has a penchant for packaging that makes a car huge inside without being huge inside (see also: Fit, Honda).
Jayhawk Jake
> Stapleface-Now Hyphenated!
02/03/2015 at 14:54 | 1 |
That's unfair because the Honda is 25 years old. It doesn't even have one airbag, the Sonic has 10. You just can't make a car like the CRX anymore
